Macrophage Biology Research

The Macrophage Biology Research Group focuses on the role of macrophages in development, homeostasis and pathophysiology in major organ systems, and how they can be harnessed to the benefit of human and animal health. Macrophages are specialised phagocytic cells that are present in all mammalian tissues and play critical roles in homeostasis and host defence.

Macrophage contributions to the progression and complications of chronic liver disease is currently a key focus of the lab and the team is working closely with Mater Clinical Trials to develop new collaborations in chronic disease research.
