Genesis Maternal Fetal Medicine Research

The focus of the Genesis Maternal Fetal Medicine Research group is to identify pregnancies that are at risk of severe adverse outcomes, such as stillbirth, neonatal death and brain injury, and mitigate this risk using a mix of statistical methodology, artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, as well as placental biomarkers.

The group has established a Growth Clinic in Maternal and Fetal Medicine Department at Mater Mothers’ Hospital, where they look at pregnancies with a baby that has been identified as being small-for-gestational-age (SGA).

The Genesis Maternal Fetal Medicine Research Group actively collaborate with research groups from institutions around Australian to actively improve pregnancy outcomes nationally.

Mater Mothers’ Hospital Fetal Growth Clinic is the first of its kind in Queensland

Professor Sailesh Kumar speaks about this specialised clinic for women whose pregnancies are identified as having fetal growth or placental issues
