Mater Research 2024 Annual Report

2024 was a landmark year of achievement. Our researchers secured more than $14 million in external funding and published 423 impactful studies spanning all five research programs.

Last year saw Mater Research celebrating its 25th anniversary —a milestone marking a quarter century of pioneering research that has transformed lives. Founded in 1999 by the Sisters of Mercy, the institute continues to embody their vision of integrating scientific discovery with compassionate care. Mater Research has grown from eight pioneering researchers based at Aubigny Place to a thriving dynamic organisation of more than 300 researchers, professional staff and students, remaining steadfast in its commitment to improving healthcare.

Our achievements were only made possible thanks to our team of dedicated researchers and professional staff who constantly strive for excellence to improve medical research and who work together to realise our vision to translate research discoveries and integrate them into improved healthcare outcomes.
