In-person psychoeducational interventions (approaches that focus on improving health outcomes through tailored information) have shown improvements in the quality of life (QoL) of patients with advanced cancer and carer wellbeing.

FOCUS is an evidence-based, dyadic, psychoeducational digital-health intervention (developed in the USA) which has been shown to improve the wellbeing and QoL of patients with advanced cancer and their primary family carer.

Our research seeks to enhance palliative and end-of-life (EoL) care in Australia by;
1. finalising the adaptation of the iFOCUS program to FOCUSau (for use in the trial);
2. examining the clinical and health economic benefits of FOCUSau; and
3. assessing the acceptability, feasibility, and scalability of FOCUSau in order to inform the sustainable implementation of the intervention into the Australian health care system.

We are conducting a pragmatic phase III hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial, with an integrated research design that includes digital health evaluation.
