Health Consumer Network
Mater Research is committed to engaging with consumers to help shape the way we conduct research studies and clinical trials. Two-way discussion and feedback with people who have lived experience of a particular disease, illness or health condition—as well as family, friends, and carers, community groups and members of the public with an interest in healthcare and medical research—is critical in research to foster collaboration, relevancy and deliver quality research inquiry. Lived experiences and perspectives are vital to help shape priorities, policy and practice, leading to outcomes that are more relevant and impactful to the community.
The role of Mater Research's Health Consumer Network is to:
- improve health research and clinical trials to meet community needs,
- ensure consumer voices are heard and influence patient wellbeing and healthcare,
- increase public awareness and understanding of research outcomes leading to quality healthcare,
- give back to others and to the healthcare industry, and
- create networks and share experiences with researchers and the wider community. Research's Health C
